The Course

O curso

The Qualicare Institute develops a professional training program with social impact, offering 40 full scholarships to people in vulnerable situations, aiming at income generation, personal development, and training to serve vulnerable communities in the region of the city of Colombo, Paraná. The project lasts 10 months.

The initiative has a partnership with the Social Assistance Secretariat of Colombo. The Qualicare Institute is responsible for selecting the beneficiaries with funding from the Ministry of Social Development of Brazil.

Pedagogical Structure
The course will be organized into two sequential classes, each with approximately 20 scholarship recipients and up to 10 auditing students. The methodology combines:

Classes recorded in a professional studio;
In-person meetings on Saturdays;
Technical visits (2 per class);
Group work and evaluations;

The in-person meetings will take place at the Qualicare Institute headquarters and/or at the Public Management School of Colombo.

Introduction to the profession of caregiver for elderly people and their responsibilities (3 hours)

Healthy Aging: physiological and pathological aspects (12 hours)
Caring for physical, mental and spiritual health (12 hours)
Autonomy of the elderly person (6 hours)
Health policies for elderly care (6 hours)
Communication strategies in the care relationship (12 hours)
Caring for the caregiver (12 hours)

MODULE II

Preventive measures in hygiene and comfort care for elderly people (6 hours)
Basic notions about wound care (6 hours)
Care in the administration of food for the elderly person (6h)
Skin care and prevention of diaper rash and pressure sores (3h)
Vaccination schedule (3h)
Ergonomics and biosafety applied to health (6h)
Basic vital sign monitoring in the elderly: blood pressure, peripheral pulse, temperature, respiratory rate (6h)
Clothing care and protective measures for the elderly at home (6h)
Care in the administration of oral medications (16h)
First aid (6h)
Main pathological conditions affecting the elderly (12h)
Assistance to elderly people in palliative care (12h)
Prevention of major urgent and emergency conditions (12h)

GRADUATION
At the end of the course, the student will receive a certificate for the Practical Course in Caregiving for the Elderly.

Vivian Rezende

Dra. Vivian Freitas Rezende Bento é Bacharel em Enfermagem e Obstetrícia pela UFPR, com ampla experiência em gestão em Saúde em hospitais de grande porte, como a Santa Casa de Curitiba. Pesquisadora nacional e internacional na área de saúde, com mestrado em Medicina Cirúrgica (PUC/PR, 2007) e doutorado em Ciências da Saúde (PUC/PR, 2017).

Autora de diversos artigos publicados em revistas especializadas.

Especializações em Saúde: Administração em Saúde (PUCPR, 2004) e Cardiologia Básica/Avançada (PUCPR, 2005). Atuou como coordenadora do Curso de Enfermagem tem expertise em gestão hospitalar, ensino superior e pesquisa aplicada.

Complementa com graduação em Direito (PUC/PR, 2024) e doutoranda em Filosofia Jurídica (PUCPR, 2026). Professora de Direito/Filosofia na Estácio de Sá, escritora e palestrante, com foco em gestão educacional e de pessoas.
