Today, course participants took a knowledge assessment and then attended a special class led by Professor Alessandra Tetzlaff on preventive measures regarding hygiene and comfort for the elderly. The session reinforced essential concepts for daily caregiving, such as personal hygiene, skin protection, pressure injury prevention, physical comfort, and the promotion of autonomy.
Throughout the class, it became clear that caring for the elderly goes far beyond merely performing tasks; it involves attention to detail, respect for each individual's pace, and a commitment to human dignity. These are simple yet fundamental attitudes that contribute to care that is safer, more welcoming, and more effective.
Beyond just learning procedures, students were encouraged to reflect on the value of care that observes, prevents, and embraces. After all, when technique and sensitivity go hand in hand, caregiving transforms into protection, respect, and a better quality of life for those who need it most.
